Vullierens

Halfway between Lake Geneva and Jura, Vullierens and its castle of the 18th century were built on a small balcony at the foot of a hill, facing the Plateau Vaudois, the Alps and Lake Geneva.

From the gothic church of the village one can enjoy a breathtaking view over the roofs of the village, the lake and the Alps. There is an informative chart which shows the mountains of the surroundings.

Vullierens is mainly known for the gardens of its castle. In fact, the superb gardens of the castle are situated in an extraordinary landscape of a country estate overlooking the vineyards, Lake Geneva and the Alps.

These gardens are primarily known for their iris. They illuminate the gardens of the Castle of Vullierens from mid-May to the end of June. By then they cede their place to the daylilies and the autumn garden.

The ancient 16th century farmhouse of the manor (“Portes des Iris”, above the castle) currently receives receptions of individuals and enterprises.

Every year, the Saturday before Mother’s Day, the stores and shops of the village organize a spring market. They sell regional products and handicraft, flowers and food.
