Châtel

From the hill of Châtel you can enjoy a marvelous view of the plain, the Geneva Lake, the Lake Neuchâtel and the Alps.

The nature reserve of Châtel was created in 1968 by agreement of Pro Natura and the communes of L’Isle and Montricher. The area is remarkable because of its situation on a hill and its valuable territory, the variety of its flora and its role as refuge for a typical Jura fauna.

The fortified refuge of Châtel d’Arruffens is situated at the brink of the hill of Châtel, at an altitude of 1390 m. In the 18th century it belonged to the De Mestral Family.

Come to discover the stroll to the point of view of the Cross of Châtel. From the Col du Mollendruz, via the Chalet of high mountain pasture of Châtel, a last rise leads you at the top of Châtel from where extends a magnificient view over the Lake Léman and Neuchâtel Lake.
