In July 2009, the Spanish minister of culture has given the label of European Heritage to the Castle of La Sarraz and its House of Artists (former property of Hélène Mandrot) because of its great historic and cultural value. 

This distinction rewarded the immense work that was invested in the protection, the maintenance and the promotion of this gem of the Middle Age. 

For more than 20 years, the former owner of the Castle invited numerous celebrities to La Sarraz, among them the architect Le Corbusier and Sergeï Einstein, a famous filmmaker, but also a lot of painters, poets, authors and photographers. For its rich past and the numerous cultural and artistic activities, the great job of the Societé des Amis du Château was awarded with this label.
