Mont-la-Ville is a small Vaud Jura foot village and the birthplace of the famous surgeon César Roux. One can see his statue on the entrance square of the village as well as at the cemetery.

The church, built in the early 19th century, has an imposing bell tower that seems to be made to resist the rigorous winter.

Between Mont-la-Ville and La Praz there is an erratic block called “Pierre aux Ecuelles”. In fact, there were a great number of erratic blocks removed down the Alps until the slopes and the foot of the Jura. This exceptional erratic block was already mentioned in 1849 by F.-L. Troyon.

In order to access the Col du Mollendruz or the alps of the Jura one will drive past Mont-la-Ville.
