Vuillerens

The iris illuminate the gardens of the Castle of Vuillerens from mid-May to the end of June. By then they cede their place to the daylilies and the autumn garden.

Château de Vullierens - Jardin d'Iris

Château de Vullierens

Vuillerens and its castle of the 18th century were built on a small balcony at the foot of a hill, facing the Plateau Vaudois, the Alps and Lake Geneva. From the Gothic church of the village one can enjoy a breathtaking view over the roofs of the village, the lake and the Alps. There is an informative chart which shows the mountains of the environs.

Vuillerens is mainly known for the gardens of its castle. In fact the superb gardens of the Vuillerens castle are situated in an extraordinary landscape of a country estate overlooking the vineyards, Lake Geneva and the Alps.

These gardens are primarily known for their iris culture, but they also exhibit the culture of the daylilies, a spring and autumn garden, an art gallery, a shop and an exhibition of sculptures.

The ancient 16th century farmhouse of the manor (“Porte des Iris”, above the castle) currently receives receptions of individuals and enterprises.

Every year, the Saturday before Mother’s Day, the stores and shops of the village organize a spring market. They sell regional products and handicraft, flowers and food.
