Châtel

From the hill of Châtel one can enjoy a marvelous view of the plain, the Lake Geneva, the Lake Neuchâtel and the Alps.

The nature reserve of Châtel was created in 1968 by agreement of Pro Natura and the communes of L’Isle and Montricher. The area is remarkable because of its situation on a hill and its valuable territory, the variety of its flora and its role as refuge for a typical Jura fauna.

The fortified refuge of Châtel d’Arruffens is situated at the brink of the hill of Châtel, at an altitude of 1390 m. In the 18th century it belonged to the De Mestral Family. From the hill of Châtel one can enjoy a marvelous view on the lakes of Geneva and Neuchâtel.
