St-Sulpice

The lovely small lake-side town of St-Sulpice, situated between Morges and Lausanne, is popular for its Romanic church, that was built in the 12th century.

Eglise romane de St-Sulpice

The lake-side town of St-Sulpice is one of the oldest towns of the region, which is attested by its medieval buildings (beside the landing of the boats).

During several centuries, there lived 40 friars in the priory. The Romanic 12th century church is a historical monument.

The Romanic church of St-Sulpice with its choir (decorated with frescoes), the apse and the impressive bell tower is one of the best witnesses of Romanic art. In the northern part of the building there are the old basements of the great nave of the church – unfortunately the nave has not been rebuilt.

In St-Sulpice there is a lovely promenade along the Venoge river as well as natural beaches.
