The VIVAT Quartet from St Petersburg returns to Anniviers for a new concert in the church of Grimentz.
The ‘VIVAT’ Vocal Quartet was founded in 1996 by Victor STUPNEV. Its aim is to revive the tradition of Russian liturgical and folk music and bring it to a wide audience.
The members of the quartet are former students of the St Petersburg Conservatoire and have excellent academic vocal skills. Their sure-footedness, singing discipline and harmony, combined with an impressive power of sound, testify to their high standards, which have been confirmed on previous tours of Germany, Switzerland and many other European countries, as well as their commitment as soloists, for example at the St Petersburg Opera,
The quartet's repertoire includes spiritual works from the 14th century to the present day, masterpieces of secular music by great Russian and Western composers, and traditional Russian folk songs.
The tour's spiritual programme gives an insight into the religious music of composers who are often unknown to us, as well as works from the Russian Orthodox liturgy (Rachmaninov, Trubachov, Tcherepnin, Tchesnokov, Bortniansky, Tschaikowsky, etc.).
