Architectural stories
The European Heritage Days, which in Switzerland will take place on September 13 and 14, 2025, will be dedicated to “Stories of Architecture” and will also mark the fiftieth anniversary of the 1975 Year of Heritage.
This year's Heritage Days will focus on built heritage, which shapes our living environment and is inextricably linked to our cultural identity. It bears witness to our past and to the transformations of our society. In towns and villages alike, the materials, buildings and structures that make up our heritage can be read. In our marketplaces, homes, urban infrastructure, churches, farm buildings, city walls and public gathering places, the memory of the past can be seen. At other times, traces of the past have survived as ruins or are buried in the ground.
The Office de la culture de Morges and the Château de Morges et ses Musées invite you, on the occasion of the Journées européennes du Patrimoine, to two guided tours and numerous activities that will allow you to (re)discover the history of the city.
Programme:
Saturday 13 September – "Walking through the centuries of Louis-de-Savoie Street"
Travel back in time and explore behind the scenes of the Château de Morges, whose construction began in 1286. Access hidden passageways and the ramparts walk. Then, through the recently redeveloped Louis-de-Savoie Street, you will reach the Town Hall, built in 1515, to discover its history and secrets. Continue along the street to the oldest Bernese Granary in the Canton, built in 1692, and end your tour at the Morges temple, constructed between 1769 and 1771.
The tour will feature a theatrical performance by ACTE Théâtre, offering you a fun way to learn about the founder of the city: Louis de Savoie.
Tour duration: 2 hours
Times: 10:00 – 12:00 / 13:30 – 15:30 / 16:00 – 18:00
