At 20 minutes from Morges and halfway between Lake Geneva and Lake Joux, the small village of Bière is ideal for walking and tasting the gastronomy of the land of Vaud. The owner of the Café du Commerce gives her guests a cordial welcome and has tasty home-made dishes on offer.
Jocelyne Penel acquired the Café du Commerce in Bière about 15 years ago. The staff of her “pinte” consists mainly of women. “Pinte” is a Vaudois term for a small, traditional restaurant, and this is exactly what the Café de Commerce is. A meeting place of regulars and hikers, who find here an ideal resting place between Lake Geneva and Lake Joux. Jocelyne gives preference to local products and wines from the region, which is why she created a wine bar at the rear of the restaurant. In this modern and cordial space, guests can taste wines from La Côte AOC and Lavaux AOC accompanied by deli meats and cheeses. The delightfully tasty and varied restaurant dishes include home-made specialties such as beef served on a slate with three sauces, fondue bûcheronne (lumberjack fondue), bistro burgers and pig’s trotters “grandma style”. The menu card also includes home-made pizzas with the flour of the La Vaux mill. On request, Jocelyne gladly caters for groups, families and businesses to create a memorable and special event.
