The well-known Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, ViaJacobi crosses the Pays de Vaud from the north-east to the south-west. There are numerous important cultural sites along the route.
The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, in northern Spain, is one of the most important spiritual traditions in Europe. The ViaJacobi is part of the European pilgrimage way of St James. It crosses the whole of Switzerland from Lake Constance to Geneva, along the foot of the Alpine massif. Like beads on a string, chapels, churches, inns and cultural landscapes follow each other throughout the ViaJacobi, guaranteeing a magnificent hike. In Vaud, Payerne, the Broye valley, Moudon, Lausanne, and the various municipalities of La Côte Region offer you to associate culture and terroir. The canton of Vaud is rich in these castles, abbeys or cathedrals which made the itinerary famous.
