La Sarraz - Exposition
New permanent exhibition opens
Since 24 April 2021, after more than two and a half years of work, the Fondation du Château de La Sarraz has reopened its castle to the public, proposing a new itinerary and a complete overhaul of the museography in a contemporary style adapted to all types of public.
"Château de La Sarraz, 900 years of dynasties".
The keys to the castle are yours!
Unlike most other Swiss castles, La Sarraz Castle has always been the residence of barons. For more than nine centuries, it remained in the hands of noble families from the canton of Vaud who passed the estate on from generation to generation by inheritance or marriage, until the death of the last chatelaine in 1948.
This particularity is what makes it so interesting and rich: the castle has retained the character of an inhabited residence and the objects it houses have been acquired over the years.
The Château de La Sarraz has some of the finest collections of furniture and paintings in Switzerland.
A unique and immersive visit
Each visitor receives the castle "key" (access card) which allows him or her to enter the castle, play a film and activate the interactive devices along the tour route. It is given according to the visitor's language and allows access to a variety of experiences.
