The Trout Trail
From the House of Tourism in Morges, walk through the Independence park where hundred-year-old trees can be admired. Then continue along the lake and once you have passed the Petit-Bois harbour, step into the forest that borders Lake Geneva and also includes a Vita trail.
From here and until the end of the forest, didactic signs punctuate the route.
For example, learn more about the lake, fishing and the towns that were once along the lake.
Pass by the House of the River and enjoy a stop to discover this unique place. Fun exhibits, an educational pond and aquariums await.
The Trout Trail carries on in the forest and along the river for a few kilometers.
Once you come out of the forest, you'll reach the pretty town of Saint-Prex and admire its charming streets and clock tower.
Numerous benches are present on the way. A small picnic area is available in the forest.
To get back to your starting point, you can take the bus N° 724 at Place d'Armes, take the train at Saint-Prex station or walk back along the railway line following the yellow signs back to Morges. The walk back takes about 1h30 (5km).
In case of military shooting in Tolochenaz, a diversion is set up via the Vita trail, which is just above the track.

House of the River
Dedicated to this common but little known ecosystem, the House of the River offers a variety of unique facilities: outside activities, lake aquarium, giant tactile wall, educational pond, birdhouses, etc., all perfectly integrated into the countryside. Situated on the Trout Trail, this place combines fun, tourist and educational activities. Perfect for families!
The permanent exhibition tells visitors about the local natural and cultural heritage, highlighted by two key attractions:
- Jacques Piccard’s "F.A.-Forel" submarine, which plunged into the depths of Lake Geneva for 20 years
- the observation channel, unique in Switzerland, where visitors can watch the fish that swim in our rivers.
The House of the River has two main missions:
- fundamental and applied research
- education about the environment, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.

Tolochenaz
In 1823, hints were found at “Crêt du Boiron” which prove that the first signs of civilization in the present-day commune of Tolochenaz appeared in the Bronze Age. The discovery of 40 tombs was significant enough to make history under the name of “Civilisation du Boiron”.
The charm and blandness of the place and the quietness of the country attract popular guests, namely the famous pianist and Polish statesman Ignace Paderewski and the actress Audrey Hepburn who is buried at the cemetery of Tolochenaz.
In Tolochenaz, the Boiron river was chosen for the reproduction of the lake trout. There is a nature trail along the river – the Trail of the Trout – set up by the Trout Association of Lake Geneva with the support of the public authorities of the region.

Saint-Prex
The medieval town with its Grand-Rue leading to the clock tower is most charming. Especially appreciable are the different fountains of the town as well as their wrought-iron tags. Guides tours are available on request.
The remainders of the city wall and the clock tower adorn proudly the entrance of the town which was built in 1234 under the patronage of the bishop of Lausanne. The town was built on the triangular peninsula in order to protect the continuously attacked population and to have the possibility to communicate with the guard of the cathedral in Lausanne by fire in case of an attack. Walls, drawbridges and trenches were built in these times.
There are several beaches in Saint-Prex, among them the “Bain des Dames” (Ladies’ Bath) and the “Bain des Hommes” (Men’s Bath). In the 19th century the labours went there to have a wash. The reason why two separate bath places were installed was the sense of shame of the people.
The medieval town of Saint-Prex is accessed by the Lake Geneva Navigation Company (CGN).
There are three paths starting at St-Prex: the Trail of the Lake, the Trail of the Trout and the Trail of the Patrimony (marked red-white).
The medieval atmosphere of the old town of Saint-Prex, its streets and its Romanic church glamorise the town and give it a very special atmosphere.
It must be pointed out that on the grounds of the commune of Saint-Prex 33 hectares of vineyards produce high-quality vine.
