    <name>The path &quot;La Ballade à Béatrix&quot;</name>
<desc>The &quot;Ballade à Béatrix&quot; trail is marked by 16 panels retelling the stages of the St-Cergue chronicle. It was written by Frédéric-Jacques-Louis Rilliet (1794 - 1856) after he had been in St-Cergue on an unspecified date. He says that he received an old piece of furniture from an old man in the village, the only remnant of the château that contained an old parchment from which this chronicle was taken. It tells of the last episode in the life of the castle of St-Cergue, which was destroyed during the Burgundy wars. The characters in this novel are fictional, with the exception of the Duke of Burgundy, Charles the Bold and the Dukes of Savoy. The political, military and geographical context is based on historical facts.
We hope that the humanism of the characters in this village legend will make you feel connected and close.
