The Sustainability Charter – Slow Tourism: our commitment to a sustainable destination.
Why have a sustainability charter? The Sustainability Charter – Slow Tourism has several key objectives:
- To strengthen our region’s position as a destination for Slow Tourism and raise the profile of the best practices implemented by our partners.
- To enable Morges Région Tourisme to provide better information, communicate more effectively and promote the destination in line with its sustainable values.
- To provide tourism stakeholders with a self-assessment and planning tool that enables them to understand their current situation, identify their strengths and explore avenues for development.
- To provide a simple and useful benchmark for comparing approaches and encouraging continuous improvement.

The six themes of the sustainability charter
The charter comprises six key sections that reflect a comprehensive vision of sustainability in tourism:
· Cooperation and a sense of belonging to the destination
· Regional identity
· Social values
· Awareness-raising, communication and management
· Regional added value
· Environmental impact
Each partner answers a series of questions across these six areas.
The results are then summarized in the form of a spider diagram*, providing an overview of the strengths and areas for improvement in the sustainability approach. An annual review is required to monitor progress over time.
*The score shown in the diagram corresponds to the average of the results obtained.
A collective commitment to more responsible tourism
Through this charter, Morges Région Tourisme and its partners are working together towards a more sustainable future, by promoting the region, its stakeholders and its resources, and by making improvements.
A gentler, more local and more authentic form of tourism — that is what Slow Tourism in Morges is all about.
Many tourism stakeholders in the region have already signed up to this initiative. The diagrams will be published here shortly.
