Exhibition of Oil Paintings by Valérie Daout

“As an artist originally from Lausanne and now living in Rolle, I have always loved
drawing. Later on, I took up painting, working in watercolours or
acrylics, until, about ten years ago,
I discovered oil painting.”

“Since then, I have remained faithful to this technique, which suits me
perfectly as it allows me to take the time
to work the paint in successive layers,
creating effects of depth and transparency
that reveal the light and the play of contrasts.”

“Birds, which offer a multitude of possibilities through both their
colours and their postures and characteristics, are an integral part of
my artistic world. I depict them with great realism.
The setting in which they appear, however, springs entirely from my
imagination.”

“Through my paintings, I travel; I create a window onto a world that is alive, poetic, wild and gentle all at once, into which I invite the viewer to immerse themselves to fully experience the moment unfolding there.”
