Facilitating workshops to explore the local area through drawing

OBSERVE, UNDERSTAND, REPRESENT

The ‘Balades dessinées’ were born out of a desire to offer a different way of discovering a place, by taking the time to observe it, understand it and draw it.

Organised in small groups, the workshops encourage a sensitive interpretation of the landscape, combining observation, analysis and graphic representation. Drawing and watercolour become accessible tools for learning to view a place in a different light, by exploring its forms, uses, vegetation, perspectives, play of light and atmosphere.

Each walk alternates between walking, discussions and sketching on site. Beyond teaching drawing techniques (composition, framing, perspective, colour and watercolour), these workshops aim to develop careful observation of the landscape and raise awareness of how it changes over time.
