Constantin Macherel, cellist, offers a new recital featuring the complete Ricercari by D.Gabrielli, probably the first major work for solo cello and therefore well before Bach. This magnificent, mysterious and rarely-played work will be performed by a musician of the highest calibre.
The second part of the concert will feature one of the major works for solo cello of the 20th century, B. Britten's 1st Suite op.72, written for the eminent Mstislav Rostrpovitch.
