Trees and Biodiversity
Welcome to the Biotope, a discreet yet precious haven of nature! This little patch of greenery is home to a pond fringed with reeds and bushes, as well as a meadow dotted with trees. Wooden walkways allow you to approach quietly and observe the area’s inhabitants: amphibians, birds, insects…
Life here is unobtrusive yet teeming with life. This natural environment is all the more remarkable as several of the species recorded here feature on the Swiss Red List, meaning they are considered threatened. A true haven of biodiversity in the heart of the city!
Did you know? This area hasn’t always been here. When the motorway was built in 1963, huge quantities of excavated material were used to extend the town of Morges out onto the lake. That’s how the new harbour, the swimming pool… and the Biotope came into being!
