Guided mushroom-hunting walk in the forest, introduction to foraging and identification, followed by a cooking workshop and a convivial meal.
The forest is full of treasures, and the second half of October is particularly favorable for mushroom picking in our region. For this event, we are collaborating with Gilles Morier-Genoud, an amateur mycologist, for an afternoon immersed in the forest to discover the mysterious world of this very special ecosystem.
During this mushroom walk, Gilles will introduce the basics of mushroom picking and identification methods. You will learn, among other things, how to recognize edible mushrooms and their specific characteristics.
Gilles has the same relationship with mushrooms as Obelix has with magic potion—he fell into it when he was very young. His father, a mycologist and co-author of books on the subject, introduced him to the world of mushrooms from birth, or almost. He later developed his expertise and has been a member of Myco du Jorat since 2017 and an expert for VAPKO since 2020. Since 2023, he has also worked in hospitals dealing with fungal poisonings.
After an afternoon in the forest, the experience will continue in our culinary laboratory with a cooking workshop based on your harvest, guided by Raphaël Gétaz, founder of Jardins de Chivrageon, market gardener and chef. As always at Jardins de Chivrageon, nature will determine the menu. The day will end with a convivial meal shared around a large table.
The day takes place in small groups of up to 8 people.
Price: 250 CHF (alcoholic beverages extra)
Takes place in all weather conditions, except in the event of heavy rain, in which case it will be canceled.
